I DON'T LOVE SUMMER. Yup, that's right. In fact, I might even hate it. I wear a lot of make up and like to dress in layers. I'd say summer is my enemy.

However, every year at the same time here it comes to make me look like a melty-faced, flat-haired mess. There is nothing worse than taking to the time to do a full face of make up only to have it run off 15 minutes later. Praise the Lord for air conditioning, otherwise I'd have to go into hiding for the season.

I am an anxious traveler. There, I said it! One would assume I have a fear of flying. Oh no, not this girl. My biggest travel fear is looking like a hot mess in a cool city!

I won't lie, when it comes to packing, I'm a neurotic basket case. I have several lists, which I write and rewrite and then check and recheck. It is exhausting! I pay particular attention to my list of toiletries...specifically my hair products.

In March I attended the International Beauty Show in New York City. It was there I fell in love. Not with a tattooed stylist to the stars but with FEATHERS. Tons of feathers: fluffy, skinny and in every color imaginable. Feather extensions are the hottest trend right now and I'm obsessed! While at the hair show, I had some feathers bonded into my locks. I must admit I instantly felt cooler.

The week after the addition of my avian strands I traveled to Austin, TX, to attend a week long music festival called South by Southwest (SXSW). Austin is the mecca of the painfully hip on a normal day and SXSW takes it to an international level. Everywhere you look in the capital city there are beautiful, trendy people and the majority of them were rocking feathers. It felt awesome to be a member of the “it” crowd.
